#5-77E. Sound or Safety? How Online Music Streaming Surges Drive Up Traffic Fatalities (JAMA Netw Open, 2026)
2026年9月26日 12:00·5分42秒
While texting is a known hazard, can online music streaming also act as a fatal driving distraction? This study reveals that major album releases, which saw a 43% surge in streaming, were associated with a significant 15.1% relative increase in US traffic fatalities, though the cross-sectional design limits our ability to prove direct causality. For clinicians, these findings provide critical, real-world evidence to counsel young patients on the hidden dangers of smartphone distractions, even when utilizing hands-free infotainment systems.
