#6-19E. Maintenance Therapy in EGPA: Rituximab vs. Azathioprine (JAMA, 2026)
2026年11月7日 12:00·6分1秒
In patients with eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA) achieving remission, optimal maintenance therapy remains uncertain. This randomized clinical trial demonstrated that rituximab was not superior to azathioprine in extending total remission duration while on low-dose prednisone, despite a higher incidence of severe infections in the rituximab group. Although the study's small sample size limits subgroup statistical power, these results directly challenge current guidelines favoring rituximab. Consequently, clinicians should reconsider routine rituximab maintenance and view azathioprine as a practical, effective alternative in routine practice.
